book, "Good Study" Burdess gives specific tips on formality, style, sentence construction, tone and voice. He also explains how writers when writing essays should properly paraphrase and how to cite
works based on the Australian citation system. Like many other authors, he teaches that to become a good writer one must expand his or her vocabulary as much as possible.
With over 1 million words in the English language, writers must have a good working knowledge of grammatical rules and how words are linked together. In addition, writers should try
and keep the content of their work coherent, succinct and easy for the reader to understand. Words should flow into sentences and sentences should flow into paragraphs. It is important
that the writer not jump from topic to topic but rather expound on the points he or she is trying to make in the individual paragraphs. Burdess explains at a
