What does your worldview say about God? Our personal view of the world typically revolves around religion, epistemology, ethics, and
the nature of human beings in general. Whether or not we believe in God is a particularly critical element in our worldview. A particular individuals belief, however, is
not a prerequisite for Gods existence. God exists regardless of whether any one individual believes in Him. His existence is a critical element in many aspects of our
lives, the more important of these revolving around the concept of moral responsibility. God, of course, does exist and our morality is an integral element in our humanness.
Gods existence has been affirmed by numerous philosophers throughout time. St. Augustine and St. Thomas of Aquinas, for example, contended that
just as Psalms 14:1 warns, ignoring the proof of Gods existence is an error which only a fool would make. Anselm (the Archbishop of Canterbury) would agree. In
Anselms argument about the existence of God he concludes that even the foolish must be convinced that something can exist in the understanding when nothing greater can be conceived, that
whatever is understood does exist in the understanding: "And assuredly that, than which nothing greater
can be conceived, cannot exist in the understanding alone. For, suppose it exists in the understanding alone: then it can be conceived to exist in reality, which is greater"
