Security is an issue that is increasing recognized as an issue which is not limited to national boarders. There are many examples of security risks which cross over international boarders
and impacting on many countries. Examples include the 9/11, the Bali bombing in 2002 and the attempt to place bombs onboard at least seven concurrent transatlantic flights in 2006 (Gradham,
2006). These were events which were planned in one or more countries, and were executed in others, and impacted, or had the potential to impact on individuals from many countries.
This is a singular example of the way that security should be considered as a global as well as a national issue. The examples used look towards one
of the most transparent areas of security risks; terrorism, but there are many potential risk areas and the same aspects of the risks and the outcomes crossing international boarders.

issue of globalization of security in order to assess the way in which security issues emerge in the global environment and how this has impacted on the emergence of the
security issues. There are a number of definitions which look at different perspectives that look at the outcomes of globalization. The dictionary definition reads "make global or worldwide in scope
or application". (Dictionary.com, 2011). This is a very broad definition, and refers to simply the scale of any phenomena, or the way in which it may be applied. This may
