Indeed, the robust and ongoing nature of globalization in terms of international political economics is one that appears to a common thread in many articles with a number f models explaining how and why the concept and practice is robust ands survives shocks. There are many concepts associated with globalization such as liberalism, modernization and westernization (McGrew) as well as requiring collaborations and benefiting from technology and increased levels of communication (Aggrawal and DuPont). There has been reference to globalization and the emergence of a single global economy (McGrew), however, there is also a high level of fragmentation and different areas receive different levels of benefit (Rosenau). There is a high level of concentration of international trade between the OECD countries (McGrew). When looking at the concept as globalization the difference needs to be drawn between a process and a condition. Where there is a process there is the implication that there is change and evolution taking place (McGrew), it is this that is needed on many developing areas so that they can be more included in the global economy, and where governance and agencies can play a role (Rosenau). While it is obvious that there had to be a process bringing about a global economy, most notable since the 1960s, but it should not be seen as a new phenomenon, it has been gradually occurring for centuries.
