It has embraced capitalism and economic growth as has only a few other Asian nations, and the effects over the past 20 years have combined to result in bringing Korea to a level of per capita income ($19,600 by 2002) on par with the smaller economies of Western Europe. The paper provides an assessment of the process of conducting a focus group and then provides a discussion of methods including the questionnaire that will be used in the study. Growth has been rapid, declining only during the years of the Asian currency crisis. Effects of Globalization Globalization appears to have become a
permanent feature of business, but there are many who decry the development as being detrimental to some groups. Much discussion of globalization centers on exploitation of uneducated, poor people
in developing nations. Businesses moving manufacturing, mining or other operations to developing nations venues frequently are castigated as being exploiters of disadvantaged humanity, seeking only their own financial gain
and associated benefit for their shareholders. Critics of globalization refuse to see any benefit at all, which has been the case in complaints about companies such as Gap and
Nike (Mason, 2000). The purpose here is to discover attitudes toward globalization in South Korea, among those directly affected by it. A. Focus Group
Design of the full study requires survey of diverse entities which can be expected to respond that they have been affected by globalization in some way.
These individuals may work for a multinational enterprise (MNE); they may be involved in the management of such an enterprise. Some own businesses in the local community, and others
