rapid advances in information technology. The rate at which organizations must change may even be increasing due to the constant innovations in technology (Business Performance Pty., 2008; Riethmuller, 2006). Businesses
across the world are trying to keep up and to find the specific technological tools that will allow them to become more efficient, more profitable and to sustain their competitive
advantage. The remarkable growth of the Internet even over the last ten years has been astounding (Business Performance Pty., 2008). Other external forces have also been impacting business and life.
One of these is environmental issues or, more specifically, designing ways to protect our environment in the face of global warming with many species becoming extinct for a number of
different reasons (Business Change Forum, 2008). The fact is that dramatic changes in the climate have had a direct impact on many industries. The recognition of how air, water and
other resources have been impacted across the globe has led to more stringent rules and regulations businesses must obey. This is a global problem and thus, affects businesses as they
are mandated to become more eco-friendly and as they are called upon to demonstrate social responsibility (Business Change Forum, 2008). It was the advent of advanced information technology that set
the foundation for a global market place. This globalization process has increased the number of huge multinational corporations and it has provided developing countries the means to enter the global
market (Business Change Forum, 2008). This author points out that "economic liberalization in developing countries has opened new opportunities and challenges" (Business Change Forum, 2008) for those countries and at
the same time, it has allowed companies in those nations to use information technology to grow as well as to offer low-cost outsourcing firms (Business Change Forum, 2008).
