long haul flight for a young low cost airline will be flying from Kuala Lumpur to Heathrow, London (Air Asia, 2009). This new flight, run by Air Asia indicates
the demand and growth of the desire and affordability of air. However, while the relative cost of air travel may have fallen significantly over the last few decades, the cost
to the planet has increased; Air travel has a great deal of potential to cause add to global warming due to the outputs for the aircraft while in the
air and during take off and landing. In a recent study in the US was conducted it has been estimated that when all of the pollutants form aircraft are
considered their impact is felt by 70% of the US population were effected to a significant level (Saporito, 2001). The emissions made
are also those that are seen to cause longer term damage to the ozone layer. The emission may also have an impact on the climate of the earth either directly
or indirectly. Directly this includes the emission of Carbon Dioxide and indirectly the aircraft when impact on the way that clouds are formed as a result of the emissions (CAA,
2009). The fuels used by aircraft is the main problems. Aviation fuel is made up mostly of kerosene (CAA, 2009). Kerosene originates from fossil fuels and has much in
common with the more well known uses of fossil fuels. There are two main problems with the combustion of kerosene by the aircraft; the waste products they produce. The major
pollutants are carbon dioxide and water vapor. Both of these have a negative impact on the air (CAA, 2009). There is also sulfur and nitrates released (CAA, 2009). If we
