The idea behind this concept was to encourage the manufacturing pollutants to travel long distances, far away from the origination site. But what was not realized was that there is no away when it comes to getting rid of air pollution. What happened was that all of the expelled pollution traveled to areas where there were no existing pollution problems and ultimately created one. As Berry points out to the reader, as the world continues to succumb to the effects of global warming, some areas of the planet have been discovered to be significantly more susceptible to the detrimental affects than others.
