whether global warming is a real phenomena or one imagined by the Henney Pennys of the world is obviously not soon to die. Global warming is a controversial topic.
It is controversial not just because of the dire future that the phenomena holds for the world but also because it is attributed to the actions of man himself.
If we were to accept the proposition that the impending ecological disaster represented by global warming is our own fault then
we must justify why it is we insist on continuing on a path that spells certain demise. The moral dilemma is just too much for some to bear so
they chose instead to criticize and cast doubt on the volume of evidence that is out there that testifies to the reality of this phenomena. The purpose of this
paper is to review that evidence, to summarize the two bodies of opinion that circle it, and to emphasize that if we do no start to correct this phenomena the
ecological impacts will be disastrous. The media is certainly convinced that the phenomena of global warming is valid. Indeed, articles appear almost
daily in major publications around the world. The electronic media devotes its share of coverage to the phenomena as well. While some of this coverage is largely hype,
a considerable proportion reports scientific facts regarding the changes which we are observing in our world. A recent front page article
in the New York Times, for example, reports a mean increase of 1.1 degrees Fahrenheight (0.6 Celsius) in the earths surface temperature (Johnson and Murphy). Even more astoundingly, however,
