So, although it is a problem that has been going on for some time, it is only in the past few years, or even the past year, that the media has become active in presenting the sides and discussing it as though it is a real problem. The following paper examines three different articles/works on global warming in the media in recent times and connects the topic to sociological perspectives and concerns. Global Warming The first article or work to be examined is actually a series on PBS which is called Whats Up with the Weather and it is a forum that apparently presents interviews and opinions of various people with an interest vested in the topic of global warming. In a synopsis of the panel, or the debate, there are six individuals presented, and a synopsis of their viewpoints. One individual, Richard C.J. Somerville, is a climate modeler who works for the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (PBS, 2007. His expertise is focused on written works and lectures concerning climate change and in his work, as it relates to this program, he offers valuable information on "the reliability of computer climate models, why understanding clouds is a top research priority for climatologists, and whats fueling the heated, polarized debate over global warming" (PBS, 2007). Such information gives data which many people may well overlook as it relates to the reliability of instruments used in studying global warming. This one individuals information is well related to another, who focuses on such conditions and the information available. That individual is Dr. S. Fred Singer.
