not something that is necessarily particular to the race of humanity and its involvement in the planet but it is also clearly something that human beings have negatively (and negligently)
furthered, increased, and threatened in relationship to the planets sensitive balance. The following paper examines various elements concerning global warming. Global Warming
From a laymans perspective it seems that the data that relates to global warming, and temperature rises, do not seem like a lot and thus may not seem important.
In relationship to the past 100 years it appears as though "the earths temperature has increased about half a degree Celsius" (How Things Work, 2007). And, while "This may not
sound like much...even half a degree can have an effect on our planet" (How Things Work, 2007). Even though it seems that
one degree is not much this increase has presumably led to many floating icebergs melting (How Things Work, 2007). It seems that "this will not make the oceans rise" and
this is because icebergs exist largely below water and the iceberg also displaces the amount of water it takes up, so that when an iceberg melts there is not really
any additional or lessened amount of water (How Things Work, 2007). At the same time, icebergs come from glaciers and with warmer temperatures more icebergs could break off and thus
rise the ocean level (How Things Work, 2007). "If the rising temperature affects glaciers and icebergs, could the polar ice caps be in danger of melting and causing the oceans
to rise? This could happen, but no one knows when it might happen" (How Things Work, 2007). However, one study, conducted by several countries, indicates that, "Some models project that
