to follow Islam. This essay will provide a brief description of terrorist strategies in specific regions of the world beginning with South and Latin America. It may be beneficial to
explain that "Latin America" is just a term used for all the Spanish- or Portuguese-speaking countries south of the U.S. . The countries are located in Central America and South
America. The U.S. Department of State (2006) reports that most of the terrorism in the Western Hemisphere "is primarily perpetrated in by narcoterrorist organizations based in Colombia and
by the remnants of radical leftist Andean groups." In this hemisphere, only the U.S. and Canada have substantial radical Islamic groups living in the country (U.S. Department of State,
2006). The Triborder region, which includes Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, remains a haven for smuggling drugs and arms and also for money laundering (U.S. Department of State, 2006). The
connection to terrorism in this region is the funding of terrorist activities (U.S. Department of State, 2006). A major concern is that both Hezbollah and HAMMAS raise funds through the
large Muslim communities who reside in this region (U.S. Department of State, 2006). There have also been terrorist incidents in the region, for instance, in 2005, there were small bombings
and arson against American-owned businesses in the region (U.S. Department of State, 2006). Another case regarding the bombing of Argentine-Israeli Mutual Association, which killed 85 people happened more than ten
years ago and has yet to be solved Argentine-Israeli Mutual Association (U.S. Department of State, 2006). Colombia has at least three major terrorist organizations in its country, the "Revolutionary
