few useable results in scholarly databases, meaning that most of the sources are from the Internet. This doesnt automatically mean that theyre useless, but they have to be evaluated carefully.
That said, heres what the research revealed. First, there arent very many ghost towns in Connecticut; there seem to be fewer than a dozen. The most prominent among them is
Dudleytown, and this paper will concentrate on that, because it is a setting for a great deal of controversy. However, there are others to be considered first. If there is
one thing thats annoying here, is that there are no sources that consider if there was a reason for all the towns to be abandoned; if they were abandoned at
the same time; and so on. No scholarly work exists that considers them as part of a larger phenomenon, if one exist. That is, the question that no one seems
to have addressed is why they died out, and if the same thing happened to all of them. At any rate, one of the towns is a place called Bara-Hack,
in Usa county (Dagostino). What remains at the site today are "Cellar holes, foundations, wells, walls, [and a] burial ground" (Dagostino). According to this author, the town was founded
in 1790 by people named Obidiah Higgenbothen and John Randall, and "things" began to happen almost immediately (Dagostino). Spirits were seen in an elm tree near the cemetery at the
