for a variety of reasons such as illness, problems, or deaths. In essence, there are many different groups around the nation and yet many groups do not really provide positive
foundations or really do what they set up to do. Emory A. Griffins book "Getting Together: A Guide for Good Groups" sets out to illustrate what makes a good and
positive group, no matter the reason for the gathering of the group. The following paper offers a critique on the work. Getting Together by Griffin The first portion
of the book examines why groups are formed, illustrating how it is important for a group to have some sort of goal that is similar, that they are all there
for the same ultimate reason. The author also illustrates that groups need to include all members, illustrating how there should be a place for everyone. Griffin also smartly indicates that
everyone may well join a particular group for a different reason in relationship to perhaps wanting to get their opinions out, to listen to the opinions of others, or to
seek some change. People are quite diverse and Griffin seems to truly understand this and the implications such diversity has on groups. Towards the beginning Griffin makes a note
of how a very tight knit group can be incredibly good, and incredibly encouraging and beneficial. But at the same time the author notes that such groups are difficult to
