offered by the "buxom beer maidens [who] serve the precious brew by the liter in large steins" (Reichmann, 2002). Oktoberfest originated in 1810 when Bavarian King Max Joseph threw
a magnificent wedding celebration for Crown Prince Ludwig. With the combination of horse racing, wedding celebration and the time of year in which it fell, the tradition of an
annual affair soon took shape to such an extent that "the Oktoberfest we know today evolved over time and incorporated a number of different traditions" (Reichmann, 2002). Food and celebration
