the State of Georgia. The Georgia Nurse Practice Act (NPA) provides that, in order to provide the public health, any individual "practicing or offering to practice professional nursing for compensation
in Georgia" shall be licensed according to the provisions established by the Georgia Board of Nursing (Organization and administration). Furthermore, the NPA creates a Board of Nursing that has regulatory
authority. As this suggests, NPAs are laws that are intrinsic to nursing practice. The details of these acts tend to differ from state-to-state, but they all define the scope of
nursing practice within their state (Professional practice). Therefore, nurses should be highly aware of the details of the NPA applicable in their state. State boards of nursing oversee the implementation
of this statutory law (Professional practice). They are charged with the responsibility and authority of protecting public welfare (Professional practice). The Professional Licensing Boards of the State of Georgia
oversees the licensing of persons who have been determined by the Legislature as affecting the health, safety and welfare of the public (Explanation). Licensees must have successfully completed specific requirements
pertaining to education, experience and examination prior to being granted a license (Explanation). Applicants for nursing licensure in Georgia must be able to establish their eligibility for a license by
showing that they graduated from a nursing education program approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing or from a nursing education program in another jurisdiction that is approved by the
Board (Applicants). This necessitates the applicant requesting that a transcript, bearing that institutions stamp or seal, should be sent to the Board, with the date of graduation and degree/diploma conferred
