A 5 page review of George W. Bush's stance on the issues driving the upcoming election. The author
compares this stance to that of Bush's prime competitor, John Kerry. The contention is presented that elections should be decided on issues, not hype. not hype. Every candidate has both his strong and his weak points. Incumbent President George W. Bush is no exception. Interpreting the relative positives and negatives of
these points, however, is dependent on the political ideologies of the particular person doing the interpreting. In a nutshell Bush is pro-gun, anti-abortion (particularly partial birth abortion), anti gay
marriage, and anti-big government. As a consequence, Bush has received much criticism from the liberal press. This criticism has been particularly vehement in regard to his actions in
Iraq but it also extends to the details of his service in the National Guard, service that occurred some thirty-five years ago. The media depiction of the circumstances surrounding
the hunt for weapons of mass destruction has reflected their obvious dislike for the Bush administration and that dislike is reflected in certain components of the American public as a
whole and will undoubtedly influence whether or not Bush will be reelected to serve his second term in the presidency of the United States. The argument could, in fact,
be made that Bush should not be reelected to office. That argument, however, must be based on Bushs performance and his stance on the issues. This paper will
outline each. There are several areas where, according to your own political views, Bush could be legitimately criticized. Although he contends that
he seeks to raise educational standards by increasing funding yet regulating that increase and concentrating on parental responsibility rather than federal spending. He supports rigorous testing and opposes school
choice believing that "No Child Left Behind" improves accountability. Bush only provided partial funding for that program, however. Bushs stance on guns is also criticized by many.
