that Americans love to fight, and not to believe that Americans want to stay out of the war. Rather, he emphasizes the fact that Americans are winners and that they
can and always will win the wars. The passion exuded suggests that Patton was a motivational speaker, albeit rather unconventional. The curses, and inflammatory rhetoric, that fly out of
his mouth are not aligned with what is acceptable even today. Yet, his commitment to the U.S. military, and his ingenuity, is what is most admired. And while some might
see his unusual personality as a deficit, it is what put him on the map. It is why he is well known today. Indeed, this military character was larger
than life, so much so that the film mesmerized audiences. Obviously, Patton was a charismatic figure. The film that was released in 1971 seemed to renew interest in exploring the
nuances of the man known as George S. Patton, Jr. ("George (Smith), Jr Patton Biography," 2008). Who is this man that people now admire? George was born in California, but
his family was originally from Virginia ("George (Smith), Jr Patton Biography," 2008). In fact, his familys roots go back several generations and Patton was quite proud of his heritage and
also of the nations founding. One could say that he was extremely patriotic. Patton would grow up and go to West Point ("George (Smith), Jr Patton Biography," 2008). That was
in 1909; in 1912, he participated in the Olympics under the military, and came in fifth for the pentathlon ("George (Smith), Jr Patton Biography," 2008). Pattons military career was
off to a good start and it would grow with the First World War. In 1916, he assisted General Pershing in an expedition to Mexico and then, he followed Pershing
