are filled with profound emotion. Man had become wicked and the Lord could only evil from His creations. In fact, the verse before this one says that the Lord saw
the extent of mans wickedness on earth (Genesis 6:5). There was very little good being done by people. Instead, they had turned their ways into depravity. There was a steady
downfall of man since Cain killed Abel. It would be safe to say that the earth had become a cesspool. Prior verses tell us that men who believed in
God were marrying women who did not believe in God (Krell, n.d.). God could see their hearts were filled with evil (Genesis 6:5). This is an important verse in terms
of interpreting and discussing the next verse. It illustrates the differences between the hearts of men and the heart of God. Gods reaction is like that of someone who loves
deeply as God loved His creations (Krell, n.d.). This scholar states: "This terminology is love language" (Krell, n.d.). Grieved is defined as an indignant rage (Krell, n.d.). This is
a word that is used to demonstrate intense human emotion that is a combination of "rage and bitter anguish" (Krell, n.d.). This same word is associated with Gods feeling elsewhere
in Scripture, such as in Isaiah: "yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit" (Isaiah 63:10), in Psalms: "How often they rebelled against him
in the desert and grieved him in the wasteland" (Psalm 78:40) and in Samuel: "I am grieved that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me
