male genitalia. This small part of the film is what had the nation buzzing upon release in the 1990s. People were not talking about transgender issues much at the time.
Rather, the general public refused to reveal the secret for this entertaining film as it would spoil the experience. Indeed, people flocked to see this movie that had a mystery
attached. Few realized that the attractive Dil was really a man until the revealing scene. When all is said and done, The Crying Game illustrates why gender is just a
social construction and why it is difficult to align gender strictly with biology. The film brings up several sociological issues related to sexuality. The film itself and the activity that
would occur as a result of the promotion says volumes about a society that is attached to its conception of gender. In todays world, there is an attempt to stop
handing trucks to boys and dolls to girls. There is that realization that the children who are born and raised a certain way will acquire gender related behaviors. Yet, there
is some case for biology in respect to feminism and masculinity and this is tied to hormones. Males are notoriously aggressive, particularly in their teenage years when hormones are raging.
Women on the other hand tend to be emotional, something that seems to begin early in puberty. After puberty, the gender lines are more defined. This is a logical observation
