are different in many ways, not just physically. But, at the same time many societies, including Americna society, seem to play up on the gender difference, instilling a difference in
gender from birth. Although it seems as though the society is working towards a reality wherein men and women are treated equally, and seen as equals, there is still a
very strong, and often subversively subconscious, reality wherein society treats the genders differently, and blindly accepts gender stereotypes. The following paper examines how the society possesses gender stereotypes from infancy,
and starting with infancy. The paper analyzes Lynda R. Willers article Welcome to Your World, Baby and then discusses two other articles that address similar conditions as they relate to
gender stereotypes from infancy. Gender Stereotypes from Infancy Willers essay is a research, a very brief research, conducted in relationship to various greeting cards that welcome an infant
into the world. The author addresses the various differences between cards intended for girls, cards intended for boys, and non-specific cards. In so doing one begins to see that there
are many subtle differences in how boys and girls are welcomed into the world, how they are seen by the purchasers, and likely the receivers of the cards. The
author notes interestingly, though not surprisingly, that 90% of the people who buy greeting cards are women. That, right there, illustrates that in this particular case women are inadvertently, and
subconsciously, embracing possible stereotypes that offered in the greeting cards. Willer indicates such things as how the primary colors of girls cards are pink and yellow, and boy cards are
