Abbott 11/2001 to Use This Paper Properly, INTRODUCTION An excellent research paper explaining the often-seen gender stereotyping in domestic violence.
This paper looks at domestic violence, its causes, effects, and why it is so often a gender-biased issue. Focus is on what causes people to attack each other in
what should normally be a family relationship, and actions that are taken when domestic violence happens. This is a model paper and as such, the student will want to make
more points as to the incidence of female abusers vs. male abusers. The survey mentioned by the student would be an excellent way for the student to write the
paper indicating the typical public response to domestic violence. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE The majority of domestic violence is a case of the male being physically abusive to the female in
the relationship. There is no question as to the distinctive roles played by both the man and the woman, as in some households, all control is rendered to the
husband. In many physical abuse situations, no one person controls all aspects of the home other than the male, including all property - something the woman is also considered
to be. What this indicates is a "correlation between the womans status in the family" (Anonymous, 1995, pp. 96-97) and the likelihood she will endure some level of domestic violence.
In association with this finding, it has come to light that the woman who has no decision-making status within her marriage or input as to how the finances are handled,
