Linguistics vary in accordance with a number of factors. Among the more important of these factors are culture and socioeconomics. These variances are notable within most communities. Western communities are of particular interest, however, in regard to the influence of gender and social class on speech. Western communities are often characterized by a diverse cultural and social mix. Factors such as the economic, judicial, moral, mythological, and aesthetic components of our societies influence practically every aspect of our being. These components are social in their nature, not biological, yet they influence practically every aspect of human existence. Factors such as race, gender, and sociopolitical status even affect the way that we communicate with one another. Language, of course, is one of our foremost means of communication. Communication modes are directly related to the communication situation. The way we communicate with other humans varies from oral communication to body language. Oral communication in itself can take a variety of forms including interpretive communication, communication based on emotion and communication based on criticism. Regardless of the form, however, it is an acknowledged fact that most forms of communication operate on a basis of reciprocity. If one individual expresses anger the most frequent result in the individual being addressed expressing anger. This reciprocal relationship is the same regardless of the emotion or the way that emotion is communicated. What differs in the relationship, however, is the way that various individuals express their emotions linguistically. Men do so differently than women and different socioeocnomic classes do so differently than others. ...
