the instructional process as well as the leawrning for individual students. In recent years, critics of traditional educational models have argued that gender bias in educational institutions is widespread,
and even in upper middle class educational districts, educators continue to be blind to the influences of gender bias. In recent years,
the issue of gender equity in education has been a topic of significant debate. Essentially, the question of how educators respond to different students based on gender-related expectations and
the correlation between program types and variations in treatment have also been noted. In particular, science, math and technology classes have been recognized as the programming areas where preferential
treatment towards boys is frequently displayed. As a result of the debates surrounding gender equity, researchers have considered the implications of one-gender approaches to instruction in the areas of
science, math and technology, with a focus on performance outcomes for girls placed in these alternative classroom options (Whitehead, 1996). Though there is considerable support in the educational community
for the one-gender approach, critics have argued that there is no way to define "separate but equal" services in these areas. In understanding
existing views of gender bias in education, it is necessary to assess certain educational situations and understand how cultural and ethnic variances can influence views of gender bias. As
a result, this study is based on an observation at elementary school in Staten Island, New York, and reflects on the central factors and educational prcoeseses that can be viewed
