against someone due to the color of their skin, no one should discriminate against homosexuals just because they have a different sexual orientation than the majority. Indeed, homosexuals are in
the minority and should be treated as a minority group and afforded the rights of all citizens. In recent days, gay marriage has been a hot topic. There was a
rash of marriages between same sex couples that would end in a situation where their marriages were considered void and some of the participants, who allowed the marriage, were arrested.
This became a political issue and involved the religious right, the primary faction against gay marriage. What homosexuals want is to be treated like everyone else. They want their relationships
sanctioned by society. Their relationships are more than sexual. They too want to make a life long commitment to another individual. Because they are not attracted to members of he
opposite sex, they choose partners who are of the same sex. Because it seems to be shunned in the Bible, there is much against the practice. In fact, there is
no such thing as gay marriage in the United States and George Bush wanted to make a Constitutional Amendment banning it, just in case state law would attempt to implement
it. While that never came to fruition, some states already have laws on the books banning the practice (Munro, 2005). In addition to gay men and lesbians wanting recognition for
their liaisons, they also want legal protection. What happens is that when a spouse dies, there are no legal rights. A case for this problem had been made on NBCs
ER when a lesbian couple had a baby boy. One of the partners gave birth while the other was simply the other mother. When the biological mother died, her parents
