nature versus nurture issue, he developed the correlation process, he introduced word association tests and he was the first to study twins in terms of what may be inherited (Department
of Psychology, 2010). Galton was influenced by Darwins Origin of Species. They were actually cousins. It was Darwins work that led to Galton studying the nature versus nurture problem.
It was Galton who first determined that even when monozygotic twins are raised apart, they are still very similar in terms of their interests and intelligence. He concluded that while
the twins were each born with a high level of intelligence, it had to be fostered in the correct environment (Department of Psychology, 2010). Intelligence was used by Galton to
investigate individual differences between people. He hypothesized that the differences between people could be the result of information each person obtains through their senses. Greater exposure would lead to higher
intelligence. He then compared children who were raised in prominent homes and those who were not. His question was whether children of illustrious persons would be more likely to become
illustrious themselves (Department of Psychology, 2010). They were. This led to an outrageous recommendation-selective breeding, i.e., eugenics. Individual differences is a very broad topic are. Today, we recognize individual
differences in personality, intelligence, traits, thoughts, feelings and so on. We also know that individual differences are the result of heredity and well as environment. People differ from each other
in all aspects. We even know that any individual may change over time and thus, individual differences may be perceived in an internal manner (Ravelle, 2010). The concept of individual
