(The Age, 2005). 2. Education Gail Kelly was born Gail Currer, on the 25th April 1956 in Pretoria1, South Africa. She had a stable childhood growing up in a
house in the same city (Murphy, 2008). Kelly grew during the apartheid regime in the country but her parents had a liberal political view, but to whom heritage was important.
It is likely that this was one of the reasons she attended an Anglican school run by English nuns, where instead of Afrikaans, which was the dominant language of the
areas, lessons were all in English and the concept of British Empire was still important (The Age, 2005). Kelly did well as this school and during her final year became
a school prefect (The Age, 2005). Gail then went to study Latin and modern history at the University of Cape Town, it was here, she meet Allan Kelly who
was to become her husband (The Age, 2005). In 1977 she graduated with a Batchelor of Arts Degree and a teaching diploma, and in December of the same year she
