following is a model paper based on that assumption. Ive always understood that collaboration in the workplace is a worthy and important goal.
But what happens when an organization is trying to encourage collaboration between employees who are in a different location, or even a different time zone? Groupware, also known as collaborative
software, is useful for this purpose. Collaborative software is technology that "may be used to communicate, cooperate, coordinate, solve problems, compete or negotiate"
(Introduction to collaborative software, 2011). I read that groupware technology comes in two different versions: Users working together at the same time/different time ("realtime" groupware or "asynchronous" groupware) or users
are working in the same place/different places (co-located groupware or distance groupware) (Introduction to collaborative software, 2011). The version I seem to be reading about a great deal is distance
collaborative software, in other words, tools that are used when many people are working in many different locations. I, personally, havent had
much experience with this, but my aunt, who is a magazine publisher, has. One version she uses with her magazine is the iDisk - this allows her to post articles
for off-site editors. The editors look at the articles, make changes (with reviewing/tracking systems on their word processing software) and then save the articles to another file for my aunt
to take it to the next step. There is also a collaborative aspect to iDisk - there have been times when my aunt has conference in the writer and editor
