makes "good" research versus poor research. In any kind of research, however, certain assumptions must be made; and one of those major assumptions is that researchers must try to remain
objective. But given certain research paradigms, is objectivity actually doable? This is a struggle researchers have struggled with for decades. In this
paper, well examine two types of sociological paradigms -- social constructivism theory and grounded theory. Our charge in this particular paper is to determine how these two might be used
in a solid research design. At first glance, this might seem somewhat a daunting task. Social constructivism is less of a "research
tool" and more of an assumption, whereas grounded theory actively does involve research. However, when we move deeper into the definitions, we can definitely see some similarities between the two
of these, and from those similarities makes some assumptions and determination of how these two can be used for research purposes. But
is this the best way to conduct a research study, using these two theories? This is another question well attempt to answer as well -- although two types of paradigms
might seem to be compatible, they may, in the long run, not work out too well together. Before we begin this paper,
an explanation is in order. Though we define grounded theory as a qualitative, inductive theory, we also tend to describe this as a quantitative theory as well, as it relies
on solid data and solid research design in order to be successful. In this regard, its also helpful for us to examine the pros and cons of qualitative versus quantitative
