from an ethical viewpoint, faculty needs to share information such as cultural backgrounds and viewpoints, philosophical (and religious) beliefs, teaching methods and interaction as colleagues with prospective students. The main
issue to take into account, however is respect. Should graduate students in counseling be required to self-disclose personal information in a group
course facilitated by a faculty member? Why or why not? The answer to this is: It depends. If the personal information has an impact on the graduate students ability to
learn, absorb or function in that group course, then yes - that information should be disclosed. If the student is, for example, bipolar or has ADHD, this is also important
information; it helps the group understand certain behaviors if they should arise. What kinds of relationships outside the classroom between counselor education
professors and students are appropriate? The same types of relationships that are appropriate between any professor and student. For example, students and professors shouldnt date. They shouldnt really be friends,
