- General Motors, Chrysler and Ford - werent worried about global warming and there seemed to be a tenuous link to air pollution and a variety of health-related issues.
However, as we enter the second decade of the 21st century, automakers are falling all over themselves, pointing out to the public how green
and responsible they are. General Motors website supports its green initiatives by devoting an entire "tab" and sub-site to the discussion; pointing out that it has gotten into the business
of manufacturing more fuel-efficient vehicles, while paying more attention to energy efficiencies in manufacturing those vehicles (as well as preserving resources and reducing waste) (General Motors, 2012). GM is also
the producer of the Chevy Volt, its first electric car, and is dedicated to using alternative fuels to power its facilities (General Motors, 2012). The company even has a "sustainability
report;" something that many companies put out to prove that its taking steps from its old, wasteful ways to becoming a company that is more focused on sustainability and environment
conservation. While all of these initiatives sound great and seem as though GM is on the right track environmentally speaking, its uncertain
that this commitment will really offset the environmental issues as they pertain to greenhouse gas emissions (or even fuel economy). Lets take the
