much that can be done when the diagnosis of this type of cancer is made, but there are degrees of how bad the cancers can become. The truth is, there
are a variety of brain tumors, some that are more serious than others. One such brain tumor is called the Glioma Brain Tumor; and there as many different types of
gliomas as there are symptoms for them. There is, however, mainly only a few treatments for this type of brain tumor, including chemotherapy, radiation and in some cases, surgery, with
the idea that these treatments will only prolong life, rather than save it. There is, at this time, no cure for gliomas.
Within the category of Glioma Brain Tumor are subcategories, ranging from astrocytoma (a low-grade tumor) to the glioblastoma multiforme - also known as the GBM - which is highly malignant
(Glioma, 2002). Then there is the more rare ependymoma, which occurs more frequently in children than adults (Glioma, 2002). GBMs are by far the most common and most malignant of
glial tumors (Bruce, 2002). Internationally, GBMs account for approximately 50 to 60 percent of all astrocytic tumors (Bruce, 2002). In most European countries and throughout North America, the incidence of
GBMs is approximately 2-3 new cases per 100,000 each year (Bruce, 2002). Another statistic is that approximately 20,000 cancers each year in

resistance to many conventional treatment approaches (Brain Tumors, 2002). These tumors spread into the surrounding brain tissue, and it is difficult, sometimes, for a doctor to see where the tumor
