nation throughout the remainder of the 20th century. During the last decade of the century, Germany seemed to find its niche, unified and has gone on to be an important
part of international events. Yet what is Germanys role in the European Union? The answer is -- it depends on who you
talk to. On the one hand, Germany is a strong country since its unification -- some people say too strong. On the other hand, Germanys economic problems and leftovers from
unification continue to plague the country. In this paper, well examine the role of Germany in the EU, and determine how it
can shed some of its problems to become even stronger. PROCEDURE/METHODOLOGY In doing this report, we relied on an exhaustive search
of the Internet to learn about Germany and its role within the EU. Also searched were academic publications and popular magazines about where Germany currently is in terms of power
within the European Union. The literature researched for this project will be discussed in greater detail within the next few sections of this paper. LITERATURE REVIEW
