into other areas. But not all the executives are on the same page - and this is a problem as the company is attempting a move toward an IPO. There
are mixed emotions among the executive staff - Don Ruiz is a task-oriented individual with a passion for his work, while award-winning researcher, Teri Robertson, who, while is more about
applied research than placating Wall Street, is still ambitious. Charles Jones, the marketing director, is building brand awareness, and CFO Michelle Houghton is realistic, but is not so bound to
the balance sheet that shes not averse to some risk-taking or investment to determine new streams of revenue. Whats required here is
a leader who can unite everyone into a team, create a learning organization and to develop innovative biotechnology to benefit people around the world - which, in turn, would help
lead to annual growth of 40%. Leadership is defined as the "approach of providing direction, implementing plans and motivating people" (Clark, 2008). Beyond
this definition, there are various leadership styles. Authoritarian, or autocratic leaders are top-down leaders who are not open to comments or input and have the vision and wont deviate from
it. Directly opposite from the authoritarian leader is the participative, or democratic, leader. This is the person who wants input from employees when it comes to making a decision; the
