in loss of identity and self esteem due to the womens movement (which they claim seeks to defame the male gender). Lastly, parents are arguing that their roles as parental
figures are under attack by one sex or the other. Where will it end, one has to wonder? And, do any of them provide a compelling argument for their claims?
Susuan Faludi in The Undeclared War Against American Women seems convinced, and even follows it up with her book, Stiffed: The betrayal of the American Man. Last, but not least,
is Fatherless America: Confronting Our Most Urgent Social Problem by David Blakenhorn. From a survey of these books it would seem that of the three books offered, Blakenhorn has
the more compelling argument. The children are often the ones who suffer in silence, whose lives are disrupted by men and women who cannot determine who they are or how
they are supposed to act. In the United States culture, irregardless of race, the father gets short shrift, it can be said. The courts routinely grant custody to mothers
a majority of the time, demonstrating and reinforcing the concept that father/male involvement with their children isnt important. However, current research shows that this is not true in the least.
Therefore, any program, which can be introduced and maintained in its efforts to promote father/male involvement, should be supported. Fathers, state the experts, provide unique attributes as a parent. These
