positions, despite the fact that there are more women than men populating the Earth. Likewise most of the worlds poor are populated by women with children, who find themselves in
little position to support themselves or their families. Lack of education equates to lack of opportunity and with the gender hierarchy as it is in many places around the world
(and subtly in those places not so far removed from the West) it is obvious that the educational culture which represses and discourages the access to these social resources only
serves to cripple a people, not support it. Cinderellas story ends too soon. It can be said that this gender hierarchy impacts womens access to social resources. The fact that
she has been rescued by her prince doesnt mean that her new life in the castle will be any easier. She is not accustomed to living as a princess. There
are rules and regulations and customs that she knows nothing about. So it was when women began entering the professions and work place in large numbers. The good old prince
network was firmly established and the Cinderellas of the new era didnt know the rules. One of the ways in which this
social hierarchy is damaging to women is a societal pressure, a double standard, if you will. This constant reinforcement of what it means to be female is only reinforced again
and again through the school system. Curriculum and educational structures are patterned to male methods of learning. "Schools began in response to what males needed to know in order
