Some school leavers feel that they do not want to increase the level of their understanding, and that they are not suited to university, in addition to this many skills that can be added by way of extended learning. For this we need different types of post compulsory education and training. The need, and demand, for education is undoubted, but after the age of sixteen there is no compulsion for an individual to remain in education. However, as the quote above indicated 70% of individuals will remain in some type of education, as the level of the education increases there is a convex relationship with the number of individuals under going that type of education. In areas where there have been high jobless figure increased pressure has been put on the use of further education in order to encourage people to get the skills or qualifications that they did not get when they were at school. There are also some course that were not available to school children such as many of the GNVQs, and although this position has now changed and there are many collages of further education that take children on at sixteen in offer these in place of A or AS levels there still funding problems that are encountered in these collages. Once a citizen has reached the age where schools no longer cater for them there are two types of education that may be pursued, higher education and further education.
