ago and became almost instant friends. The qualifier "almost" has to do with the fact that we had both been betrayed by persons we had each considered to be our
friends and at that time neither of us trusted our own judgement of others. Of course, we did not know of the others experiences until a few months after we
met. At this point in time, we are confidants and rely on each other as sounding boards when faced with a dilemma or unpleasant event. While we provide nurturance, care
and positive reinforcement, we also rely on each other for the truth. The truth, however, is never communicated in a way that would hurt. We also share all the joys
and positive experiences in our lives with each other. We are truly and unconditionally happy for each other for the good things that happen and for our respective achievements. There
are no problems in the friendship that I am aware of. The assumption is that we can trust each other completely to keep any confidence. 2. Interdependence in Friendship
Any close relationship is based on interdependence, which means that although the two persons in a relationship depend on each other for certain things, they are each also independent individuals.
