and an unquenchable desire to portray her inner pain, Kahlo favored a more simplistic approach to symbolically convey the immense pain and suffering she endured throughout her life. Utilizing
the duality of surrealism and imagism, the troubled Mexican artist cleverly and quite appropriately captured her audience with images of her own personal anguish through such pieces as the 1937
