answer to whether or not we really have free will is not something that anyone knows, though many believe. The following paper examines the arguments of free will and the
arguments of determinism, the belief that our lives are somewhat preordained. The paper finishes with a discussion and a personal viewpoint. Free Will Free will is commonly
associated with the notion of morals and ethics, as it is something that society has generally upon the notion that free will was given to mankind by God. As such
free will gives us the possibilities of good and evil for our free will enables us to do evil from a theological standpoint. Or as is said in an essay
in Abels work "Fifty Readings in Philosophy," "Evil is due to human free will" (Abel 71). At the same time free will is also an aspect of freedom itself
and people generally agree that they are free but yet also restricted by realities. We can make any choices we desire and we can move in any direction we desire
as long as there are no restrictions that keep us from doing so. We are, in other words, only as free as our environment and realities allow us. Many
would argue that the mere fact we can discuss and debate philosophy itself is a form of free will for there are no predestined directions and no predestined answers. Velasquez
