nature, issues of abandonment, and many other relevant concerns. Bearing this in mind we present the following paper which examines some of these various conditions and realities as they involve
feminine and human nature. Frankenstein has a very clear desire to, not only create life as a scientist, but also create life as one who wishes to possess and
control feminine nature: "he apes the ultimate creative act; he transgresses in trying to move into the feminine arena of childbirth" (Woodbridge bushi.shtml). This is very evident in the fact
that he wishes to have a child, the monster, and create a thing of beauty. This may well be due to, as Hobbs illustrates, the fact that "Victors upbringing denies
him expression of his feminine side" (152). Whatever the case, it is powerfully evident that he is driven, especially when we understand the origins of this need, which began with
the feminine nature of Frankensteins mother: "My mothers tender caresses and my fathers smile of benevolent pleasure while regarding me are my first recollections. I was their plaything and their
idol, and something better -- their child, the innocent and helpless creature bestowed on them by heaven, whom to bring up to good, and whose future lot it was in
their hands to direct to happiness or misery, according as they fulfilled their duties towards me" (Shelley 20-21). We can see in this, how Frankenstein was clearly attached, and enthralled
with the feminine nature of his mother, and of the gift of life which she was able to provide. Short of illustrating all the conditions which involve Frankenstein and his
love of his mother, we note that the student should seriously examine how fond and attached Frankenstein was to his mother throughout the story, and how devastated he was when
