a relaxation technique - has been heralded an effective and much safer alternative to drug therapy. Moreover, coupling biofeedback with meditation as a means of effectively - and completely
non-invasively - obtaining release to stress-related pain brings about a synergistic influence. Kabat-Zinn (1995) addresses the relationship between meditation and biofeedback in such a way that the two entities
intertwine in their quest to evoke a sense of peace. Insofar as stress-related pain is born out of tension, meditation is a particularly effective method to induce a much
needed sense of calmness. Biofeedback relates as much to transpersonal experiences and altered states of consciousness (hypnosis) as much as it does to meditation. Tarts (1990) demonstrative examples of
how hypnosis presents an opportunity for psychological healing also addresses how such experiments relate to the concept of biofeedback inasmuch as biofeedback is an aid to healing. The concept
of healing oneself of stress-related pain with the effects of hypnosis and meditation have been long accepted and applied in restricted circles. Only of late have these somewhat misconstrued
