get the work accomplished (Katzenstein, 2007). Several fields are responsible for the theories and practice of organizational behavior. The four major disciplines most often identified are psychology, sociology, social psychology
and anthropology (Katzenstein, 2007). There is a fifth discipline that is seldom discussed, political science that is gaining more recognition (Katzenstein, 2007). If we simply consider what each of these
areas or disciplines is about, we can easily see how they contribute to the science of organizational behavior. Psychology investigates and attempts to explain, quantify and even change behaviors, both
human behavior and animal behavior (Katzenstein, 2007). It is involved in a plethora of issues related to human behavior that include factors that affect work performance, learning, leadership, motivation, job
satisfaction, appraisals and many other issues (Katzenstein, 2007). Sociology, by contrast, investigates and considers the social system itself in which people live and work (Katzenstein, 2007). For example, how do
people fulfill their expected roles in that particular social system, how do people relate to others in the same system (Katzenstein, 2007). The contribution of this discipline is found in
all the different aspects of group behavior within complex organizations (Katzenstein, 2007). Social psychology combines both psychology and sociology. It actually looks at how people influence each other, remembering the
concepts of the two other fields of study (Katzenstein, 2007). One area of investigation in this field is how to being about acceptance of others (Katzenstein, 2007). Anthropology is about
the study of societies and explores humans and their activities (Katzenstein, 2007). Anthropologists are concerned about the culture and their impact on people (Katzenstein, 2007), e.g., the corporate culture. This
