a story about growing and loving as well. But, in the midst of this powerful story is the revenge these men seek for the murder of their mother, their foster
mother. The following paper examines how the film depicts elderly people as seen through the character of the mother, Evelyn. Four Brothers: Depiction of the Aged
In this film the mother, Evelyn, is essentially shot and killed in a convenience store early on in the story. While the brothers remember back
to her in the old days, when they all lived together and she was alive and offering them support, much of what the viewer of the film envisions in relationship
to Evelyn is her presence at her death when she is somewhat elderly, though by no means incredibly old. Evelyn, at the
beginning of the movie, is not what one could call a young woman or even a middle aged woman. She is clearly at a stage in her life that is
considered, or connected to, retirement. As her character relates to any demographics it seems fairly reliable although the film is not about any elderly group of people and as such
could be argued to be something of a misrepresentation. But, in all honesty, when younger people get together to engage in an activity they are generally getting together with other
people who are of their same age. As such, because this film does not really deal with the elderly crowd, the demographics are reliable.
