Haber (2001) points out that the concept of point of view in art allowed a number of evolutionary developments, particularly in terms of realism, such as the comprehension and utilisation of perspective and the development of a style which was based on the notion of a privileged viewpoint. In effect, the work of art consisted of what the artists viewpoint dictated, both in terms of the structure of the work - angle, perspective, distance and so on - and the content. From a cultural standpoint, that which appeared in the finished work was the way in which the artist interpreted the cultural infrastructure from which he had originated; it was, in both sense of the word, a personal viewpoint.
