more suited to market needs. In looking at a company such as Airfoil Technologies International and their expansion into Asia, the failure of the company to make a profit in
Europe need to be considered so that the same pattern does not repeat itself. This failure may be due to a mismatch between the company offerings and the environment or
the way that environment has been accessed. If Airfoil Technologies International want to expand into Asia in a profitable manner they need to make a careful evaluation of both their
own positions ands capabilities as well as the needs of the local market and the customers as well as the competition that already exists. With this knowledge a strategy for
entrance into the market may then be developed. The first step is strategy development is that of information gathering. There needs to
be an understanding of the companys core competencies and the resources that are available, even if these are not currently not being maximised. These may include physical resources such as
office space, or intangible resources. For example we may find that some employees already have expertise in the area that the Airfoil Technologies International is looking to expand into. For
