Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, the EU is responsible for setting forth the specifications regarding outside commerce. Previously named the European Community (EC), "the creative and strong
leadership" (Clinton, 1998, p. 909) represents the European Union as one of the worlds "most powerful trade blocks" (Leal Filho, 1996, p. 5), inasmuch as it instructs businesses how they
are to operate within the boundaries of Europe; if these guidelines and restrictions are not adhered to, the EU sees to it that the particular commerce in question reconsiders its
tactics or refuses its existence. Indeed, the entire purpose of the EU is to protect the continents economic interests. "The European Union is the basis upon which we
