companies did in 2002 (Fairlamb, 2001). That said, it is also the case that forex has been rather slow--particularly when compared with equities--in embracing the benefits of an online environment
(2001). Of course, online trading in this manner is relatively new and Fairlamb (2001) reports that one benefit of trading online is that it reduces mistakes. Why? Buschman says:
"Its easy to confuse 17 and 70 when youre talking on the phone" (2001, p.44). That is a good point. Also, it is also more advantageous for business deals to
be done in writing as opposed to meetings or on the telephone. The Internet has opened new doors and allowed ordinary individuals, and savvy businessmen, to take advantage of a
medium that is quick, reliable and serves to document transactions more readily. Fairlamb concludes, in respect to the power of the Internet and how it affects Forex: "For years, forex
traders have been powers in the financial world. Now, the Internet is bringing them down to size" (2001, p.44). In some way, the net changes the image of the forex
traders, but it is hard to argue against the fact that it has opened new doors in this realm. Forex trading in Hong Kong and China is a phenomenon that
is relevant when discussing business trends in Asia. When examining the uptake of Forex trading in retail, as well as in an institutional environment, in Hong Kong and China too,
