are expected to see flying cars come to the market within the next decade. Looking at some of the development the way that market is moving and the way it
may be marketing can be ascertained. Some of the cars under development are shown in table 1. Perhaps the most well known concept of a flying car was that
developed by Moller, it is expected to be made in several versions, form a singe sea up to a six seater vehicle, the idea is that there would not need
to be have piloting skills as there would be an automated system that would allow the driver to simply put in the direction and the speed, without the need
for any piloting knowledge using a system, similar to the SATS that is used for small aircraft in crowded airspace (Christe, 2007). However development of this vehicle appear to stall,
flights in 2006 were delayed and the engines change, the next date is 2012, when a prototype should be ready, and then commercially available a few years after this (Moller,
2009). Terrafugia have developed a vehicle that is capable of a distance of up to 450 miles at speeds of 115 miles per
hour, and are aiming to have this on the market by 2011 (Hill, 2009). This is an interesting concept, is changes from a car to an aircraft in less than
thirty seconds. However, this is unlikely to revolutionise the flying car market, as to fly it the driver will need a pilots licence and the basic model is more akin
to an aircraft rather than a car (Hill, 2009). However with a price tag of $194,000 it may be a product that can be marketed so a specific market.
