the area of information technology, there are "disasters" such as viruses or computer malfunctions (Botha & Solms, 2002). Disaster recovery planning takes work. What are the key
elements of planning? The functions of disaster recovery listed at the FEMA web site are mitigation, preparedness and training, response, and recovery ("FEMA," 2009). Because FEMA is probably the one
organization that has had to cope with handling serious disasters, it is a good resource to use in terms of creating a plan. In examining five key elements when engaging
in disaster recovery planning, particularly as it affects information technology, which elements would one choose and why? In examining the FEMA web site, there is much information that may be
gleaned in coming up with a disaster recovery model. Yet, there are other things to consider. FEMA is most concerned with structures and human life. Someone planning for disaster will
want to consider a number of things in order to safeguard technology in addition to the traditional FEMA recommendations. II. Five Elements of Disaster Recovery
